QIIB honors some of its clients who are among the stars of Al-Adam, winner of the 2019 AFC Asian Cup


Dr. Al-Shaibei: We are proud of all the Asian Cup champions who brought us joy; we are honoured to have some as QIIB clients


QIIB celebrated some of its clients who are among the stars of Al-Adam, winner of the 2019 AFC Asian Cup, and who honoured the Qatari and Arab football and raised the name of Qatar high in the most important football arena on the world’s largest continent, in the presence of Bank’s Chief Executive Officer, Dr Abdulbasit Ahmad Al-Shaibei.

Players Tarek Salman, Khalid Hassan, Abdul Aziz Hatem, Akram Afif, Saad Al Sheeb and Ali Afif were honoured guests at a ceremony hosted by QIIB’s Executive Management, as they are clients worthy of all recognition and appreciation.

“It was a significant accomplishment for our champions who won the most important championship in Qatar's football history, forever carving the name of Qatar in the history of the Asian Football,” QIIB noted.


The ceremony was attended by Mr. Jamal Abdullah al-Jamal, QIIB Deputy CEO, Mr. Ali Hamad al-Mesaifri, Head (Human Resources and Administration), Mr. Zakaria Jallawi, Head (Retail Sector) and a number of other senior executives.

Welcoming the players, Dr Al-Shaibei said, "QIIB is proud of the Asian Cup champions who brought us joy and we are honoured to have some of them as our clients. They proved that willpower, determination, hard work, courage and bravery are the country's best qualities that Al-Adam carried as a clear message to the world by winning the Asian Cup”.

"By winning the Asian Cup despite the circumstances that accompanied this victory, Al-Adam brought joy and pride to every Qatari who are really passionate about his / her country as well as every resident of Qatar and person who love our country, which is thriving and flourishing under the leadership of His Highness the Amir, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani, the first supporter of sports and athletes".

He noted, “Our celebration today of Al-Adam players is a simple expression of appreciation for a group of citizens who have made exceptional efforts with their teammates to raise the name of our dear country high, a great accomplishment that has resonated widely throughout the world”.


Dr. Al-Shaibei said, "In fact, we are unable to fully express our gratitude to these wonderful young men who proved once again that sports can be translated into achievements, generosity, passion, patriotism, dedication and ideals to the ambitious youth who wish to serve their country and raise its name among nations”.

He stressed “QIIB is keen to play its role in corporate social responsibility and support all activities that provide added value to the Qatari community. There is no doubt that our deep belief in supporting sports stems from its importance, great impact and message that transcends the borders and barriers between nations and peoples as it is a message of dialogue, interaction, love and honest and fair competition”.

On their part, the celebrated players thanked QIIB for honouring them and affirmed that their efforts as part of the national team are a duty and one that raises the name of their country high. It is a cherished goal for every player and every citizen.

The real reward for the team was the words of thanks and praise from His Highness the Amir, Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani and the joy they saw on the faces of all Qataris as well as the residents of Qatar and those who love this dear country.

They stressed on the fact that the greetings and gratitude they received everywhere cast greater responsibility on them, pushing them to give more and make greater efforts to bring joy to this great game of football and its patrons and lovers in Qatar.


Players interacted with QIIB officials and shared with them the experiences they had and challenges they faced during the highly successful AFC Asian Cup.

They also underscored the importance of sports as a catalyst for youth to gain excellence as well as the importance of institutional support in developing sports further in the country.
