Al-Shaibei: Customer base expansion and market dynamics encouraged us to open new branches and restructure the existing ones

QIIB Chairman and Managing Director HE Sheikh Dr Khalid bin Thani bin Abdullah al-Thani inaugurated the bank’s newest bank branch at the Mall of Qatar.

Besides several board members, QIIB Chief Executive Officer Mr Abdulbasit Ahmad al-Shaibei attended the ceremony.

Following the ribbon-cutting ceremony, which marked the formal launch of business activities at QIIB’s Mall of Qatar branch, Sheikh Dr Khalid along with QIIB chief executive officer, Abdulbasit Ahmed al-Shaibei and directors among others toured the new facility, which will form part of QIIB’s rapidly growing network of branches that provide comprehensive banking services to a diversified customer base.

Sheikh Dr Khalid stressed on the importance of the new branch providing high quality services to customers and meet customer expectations, “and that strong customer loyalty must further motivate us to enhance our performance permanently.”

The new QIIB branch is on the ground floor of the Mall of Qatar, considered to be one of the most important shopping destinations in the region. It is designed based on the highest international standards and reflects the extent of development achieved by Qatar in various fields.

The opening of the Mall of Qatar branch is of great importance for customers given the bouquet of marketing options available including integrated banking services offered by the QIIB branch.

Commenting the occasion, Mr Abdulbasit Ahmad al-Shaibei said, “At QIIB we are proud to achieve significantly in terms of our branch restructuring plan in line with our ever expanding customer base.

“As you know, our presence in one of the most important shopping centres in our country, and in the region in general, is vital to us as well as our customers, who can take advantage of this facility in the Mall of Qatar and do various banking transactions. The branch will take into account the specificity of functioning from a popular mall; opening all the days of the week and during key shopping hours to meet the demands of various segments of customers.”

“The new branch is certainly a quality addition to our network of branches that has now reached 20. We are also planning to open new branches at major shopping centers such as the City Center and Doha Festival City, which goes in line with the bank's geographic expansion plan in accordance with the customers` requirements, and the keenness of meeting their needs, conveniently and easily.”

The CEO continued: “Through these expansion plans, we are responding to the market needs and competition. These are key elements towards improving the performance of the banking sector and promote innovation, particularly in Shariah-based Islamic banking, which of late, has been witnessing a huge demand from customers.”  

Al-Shaibei said the QIIB branch at the Mall of Qatar will offer excellent banking experience to its customers. To achieve this, the bank has selected a “highly experienced and professional team.”

“We were also keen to design the branch in a distinct pattern that reflects contemporary architecture, inspired by Islamic art, as is the case with all our new branches.”

“In parallel to opening new branches, we are further developing and enhancing the alternate channels such as ATMs, call centre, mobile and phone banking, and Internet banking services. This will help our customers save their valuable time and ease their efforts. Through such alternate channels, we can also provide the most efficient and secure banking services to our customers.”

The QIIB branch at the Mall of Qatar operates Saturday through Thursday, in two shifts from 9am to 2-30pm and from 3-30pm to 9pm. On Fridays, it will function from 4pm to 9pm.
