Dr Al-Shaibei: “QIIB’s plan to restructure its branches made great strides”

HE Sheikh Dr Khalid Bin Thani Bin Abdullah Al-Thani, Chairman, QIIB Board of Directors, inaugurated the Bank’s new branch at the Doha Festival City mall as part of its strategy to expand and respond to the increasing demand for QIIB products and services.

The opening ceremony was attended among other dignitaries by Dr Abdulbasit Ahmed Al- Shaibei, QIIB Chief Executive Officer, Board members and senior executives. 

After the ribbon cutting, which marked the formal launching of QIIB Branch at the Doha Festival City mall, HE Sheikh Dr. Khalid Bin Thani along with the bank’s Board members and senior executives toured QIIB’s latest addition to its branch network, which recently witnessed a significant shift in terms of its presence in commercial complexes across Qatar. 

HE Sheikh Dr Khalid also addressed the employees of the new branch, stressing on the need to provide customers with the best service and utmost attention, combining speed with quality, as customers’ loyalty deserves to be matched by high-quality services that meet the expectations of the various segments of the society. 

The new branch is located on the first floor of the Doha Festival City mall next to the dining area. The location has been carefully selected after due diligence.

A decision was also made to transfer customers’ accounts at the Al Kharaitiyat branch to the Doha Festival City branch, which has long business hours and is easily accessible, particularly to customers in the surrounding areas. This allows them to perform their banking transactions, throughout the week. 

On the occasion, Dr Abdulbasit Ahmed Al-Shaibei said, "This branch is a continuation of the strategy we had announced last year to review our local branches with the purpose of giving more attention to the local market and enhancing our presence in those areas, which are most sought after from the point of view of our customers, particularly malls and important and densely populated areas. 

He said, “The new branch is a great addition to our nationwide branch network. It is the third in commercial malls after the ones at Ezdan Mall and the Mall of Qatar. Two new branches are currently being opened in Doha City Center mall, and we hope that they will soon be operational after all logistical, technical and administrative arrangements have been completed." 

“Along with the expansion of its local branch network, the bank has strategic plans to develop alternative channels, which are equally important for customers. These include increasing the number of ATMs, giving attention to and permanently developing the call center and constantly enhancing our mobile, telephone and online banking services. These help our customers’ save time and efforts and acquire banking services that meet the best international standards,’ Dr Al-Shaibei pointed out. 

He affirmed that QIIB will continue to play its key role in serving the Qatari economy and society and work closely and effectively with the local business community and in all sectors, so as to contribute to the nation’s continued growth and overall development. 

QIIB’s Doha Festival City mall branch will be manned by a team of professionals and experts who will serve customers and meet their banking needs, based on the highest international banking standards. The new branch operates Saturday through Thursday, from 9 am to 9pm and on Friday from 4 pm to 9 pm.
