Al Meer: QIIB is the First Bank in Qatar to issue Virtual Debit Cards
QIIB announced the launch of Virtual Debit and Credit cards via QIIB Mobile and Internet Banking, in an aim to promote digital transformation, a cashless society whilst keeping pace with the future of digital payments globally.
Eligible Customers can now request to issue their Virtual Cards via QIIB Mobile and Internet Banking directly without the need to print the card. Customers can use their Virtual Cards at contactless Point of Sales terminals, for online purchases, or to add them to Digital Wallets such as Google Pay and Apple Pay.
The Virtual Card has all the features of the traditional card; serial number, expiry date, and CVV, with the added benefit of the Customer being able to obtain all the details of their Card via QIIB Mobile and Internet Banking.
All Customers can apply for their Virtual Debit or Credit Card via QIIB Mobile and Internet Banking by following the simple steps. The Customer can activate and use their new Virtual Debit or Supplementary Credit Card immediately. In addition, a Customer is able to request a new Virtual Credit Card simply, which once approved will be issued and can be used as per all other Virtual Cards.
The new QIIB Virtual Cards enjoy many features, most importantly high levels of security in all transactions, in addition to the simple and quick issuance and direct use without the need to visit a QIIB Branch. The Cards are accepted in all payment operations both Locally and Internationally, and can be added to Digital Wallets such as Google Pay and Apple Pay.
Commenting on the launch of QIIB Virtual Debit and Credit Cards, Mr. Omar Abdulaziz Al Meer, Chief of Business Development and Alternative Channels Sector at QIIB said: “We are pleased to keep pace with the global digital development and to add a new innovative service that serves as an added-value to our valued Cusrtomers and acts as another step in our journey of digital transformation. Al Meer noted that: “QIIB was determined to make the process of any Virtual Card to be as seamless and effortless as possible whilst complying with Global Banking and Security Standards. The Customer is able to not only issue a Virtual Card immediately without the need to visit a QIIB Branch, but can also control the Virtual Card directly in QIIB Mobile and Internet Banking at any time”.
