Dr. Al-Shaibei: The successful organisation of FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 will remain a great legacy for future generations
QIIB participated in this year's National Sports Day events by engaging in various activities, which reinforced the bank’s commitment to support sports and the efforts to grow and turn such events into a lifestyle in line with promoting Doha as a global sports capital.
Many QIIB employees participated in the National Sports Day events, which included cycling and a number of other sports activities at Souq Waqif Park such as football, volleyball, tennis, and tug of war.
In celebration of National Sport Day, QIIB has announced a ‘Double QIIB Points’ campaign on local credit card spend during the Sport Day to encourage its customers to engage in different sporting activities.
The offer covers all QIIB credit cards of different categories similar to the Sports Day events that target all segments of the society- nationals and residents of all ages.
Commenting on the occasion, QIIB Chief Executive officer, Dr Abdulbasit Ahmed al-Shaibei said, “The celebration of this year's National Sports Day has a different taste following Qatar’s successful hosting of the FIFA World Cup 2022, guided by the vision, directions and unlimited support of His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani, the Amir of the State of Qatar”.
“The resounding success of FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 at all levels, will leave a great legacy that is a matter of pride, provide lessons, enhance determination and assertiveness to our future generations and encourages us to offer the best for the advancement of our nation and people”.
He noted, “Today, Qatar has transformed into a global sports destination that is visited by sports enthusiasts from all over the world. The country has established its success and displayed its organisational and sports capabilities, and has built facilities and infrastructure that are now seen as benchmarks in development, in line with the sports and sustainability standards, which are greatly observed by the State of Qatar”.
“Further to Qatar’s centrality and its role in sports, sports activities in general are important for the individual and society. The annual celebration of the National Sports Day is only a reminder of the significance of sports as a physical activity, and as a social and human activity that carries the meanings of interaction and communication on a social, human and cultural level”.
Dr al-Shaibei highlighted that within the framework of QIIB’s corporate social responsibility and community service strategy, the bank ensures to engage in community activities of added value, such as various sports activities, which represent and provide great positive values for the individual and society.
